Boys Will Be Boys!

I have a little firefighter at our house! (Which is a good thing since he threw a dish rag on the hot stove this morning! Yes, I was right there to grab it off and no harm was done!) Joel's grandpa brought him a firefighter had and badge from a safety conference that he attended. Joel loved his hat and played around all night with it! He even climbed the stairs holding his club (aka a toy golf club!) in true fireman fashion! Good thing I have one so cute uhhh... strong to keep me safe!

I have a couple of pictures of Conner Bomber too. He loves having his baths with his big brother! And Joel is good about sharing ALL of his toys with Conner - right in his lap! We went swimming yesterday at Green Canyon Hot Springs (because it was SNOWING! Yes, you read that right, snow, like full on blizzard snow, on May 22nd! and we needed something to do to get some energy worn off!) and Conner loved it! He splashed and laughed and kicked and splashed and laughed, well you get the idea, for a couple of hours! We can't wait to go again!

We also started Conner on cereal a couple of weeks ago. And He loves it! And I love it too, because he sleeps through the night now! He always gives me a dirty look at first, but then, as you can tell by the look on his face, he loves it by the end! We love how content and happy Conner is almost all the time.

Just another funny Joel moment to end the day! We go with grandma a lot to the store and she came to pick us up one day in the BMW. I told Joel that we were going to go in grandma's car and he looked at me and said (please read this with your most know-it-all voice!) "Actually, mom, it's a beamer!" Yes, My son is completely obsessed with cars, tractors, and tires! He can point out numerous car makes and models as we are driving and I find it hilarious! The even funnier thing is that when I told Mike the story he said "Oh no! Its already starting to happen!" I guess when he was younger he used to correct everyone by saying "Actually..." I guess like father, like son!

The Secret Spot!

So... many of you know that I have a slightly active little two year old. Okay, maybe that's a little bit of an understatement .. I have a VERY active two year old and days that are cloudy and cold and we can't go outside... like this.... (taken about 2 weeks ago!)

Can be a little tough. So as we finished are finishing, the basement (yes! It finally has carpet!) we decided to add a little playroom out of one of the large storage closets off the main room. This is where Mike tells me I'm a little extreme, I really just don't understand it! I think its perfectly reasonable to put a tree house in a basement, complete with ladder and slide!

Mike did a wonderful job building our little playroom. We built a platform with a ladder going up, and a slide going down. Joel calls it his secret spot. Under it we have a bean bag, a bookshelf with some books on it, and a few toys.
One of these days I am going to paint a tree on the walls around it and cutesy it up a bit! But until then, it has provided a lot of fun for Joel and his toys! Oh, and it is mom and dad tested and approved too!

Here is a picture of the main part of the basement too. We moved the tv down here, as well as the computer (so I can edit pictures and blog without fighting for the tv!) We love having the basement done and spend most of the day down here running and playing!

A miracle has occured!

So, all but one of these kids is within 4 months of each other, and all are cousins. The miracle, you may ask yourself... this picture has been in the attempt for 2 years! Is there anyone screaming...no! That is the miracle. For two years we have attempted to take a picture with all the kids and EVERY time someone (mainly Joel) is screaming. Well, not this time. All kids are happy. Now, that is a miracle! We went over to Mike's aunt and uncles house for a cousin get together a little while... I mean a couple weeks... ago and had a wonderful time. There are a bunch of old toy trucks and tractors that entertained Joel for a good hour.

We are obsessed tractors right now, and Bob the Builder has been moved to the top favoritest TV show for Joel. Thankfully there are multiple episodes and good ol' Netflix has at least 20 different shows that you can watch instantly. So, I don't have to go crazy watching the same one over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over again. You get the idea! So, here we have Joel playing with the tractors and me playing with the camera!

Oh, and more tractors!
What else will keep a little boys (and girls, as proven here) attention... Rocks!
Here is Joel and his cousin who was born on the same day as him.
And more rocks!
And to tack on to the end. I found this rain coat at a garage sale last year thinking I had a couple years before we could use it (its a 3T), well, good thing I checked, because we now wear 3t clothes so we got to pull it out during one of our lastest rainstorms (I will take the rain anyday over the snow we had last week! Seriously - its May!) But it was just so cute! So I made Joel go play out in the rain so I could take his picture, although he didn't seem to mind ;)!
So, here is to some sunny weather... PLEASE!
