Becoming the Translator

Joel's vocabulary has grown in leaps and bounds over the last month. Mimicking whatever we say and finding his own words (many of which I have no hope of understanding!) . I have found myself becoming the translator for Joel. Here are some translations - at least the ones I have figured out!!!

Puh-puh = Puppies (his favorite thing in the entire world!)
mama = mom
uh-uh-uh = mom as well
dada = daddy
booh = book
no =no and yes, we have already learned that word!
andma = grandma
papa = grandpa
suseme = excuse me (more a mimic but I will count it!)
tankyou = thank you (more of a mimic as well!)
tuh = toy
side = outside (his favorite place to be - even if it is FREEZING outside!)
nighnigh= night time
teefh = brush our teeth
stinky = dirty diaper (this was his first word! Poor boy that's what he will have to admit!)
uh = up as he is hanging on to the end of my shirt and pulling!
cookie= cookie - my favorite word too!

These are the words I can think of- I am sure there are more! It's amazing how fast they learn! So next time you moms have to write down your job description or talk about qualifications for a foreign espionage job - add in translator!

Joel's First Real Experience with Snow

I loved these pictures so I thought I would share! I went out with Joel to test some lighting and areas for Christmas pictures (yes!! Still working on those-- coming soon!). I played around with them and liked the way some of them turned out! Joel is also working on standing by himself! He kept falling with his face in the snow-- but was a pretty good sport all things considered. He didn't even cry!

Is this December???

Mike was heading out for choir sunday morning and noticed this little guy popped his head up out of the ground! I had him take a picture. This would be fine and all if it was say April -- but no its DECEMBER! We are supposed to have snow! Well, I woke up yesterday morning and low and behold --snow. Now it's starting to look like Christmas!

This was a picture of Joel that made me laugh! Such a ham this kid is!!!
"What mom-- the camera again- really!"

Joel helps his daddy with his homework every now and again! I don't know if he really is much help or not- but maybe since it seems he has passed all his electronics classes up in heaven he can teach Mike a thing or two on his calculator! I know he does things to the computer that I have never seen before!!!

How Could A Face Like This Cause Any Trouble???

Yes, this is a face that you would think could do no wrong - a perfect little boy! Hahaha! That is now his mom laughing! That cute little face can get into more in 5 seconds than any other little person I know of. Sometimes I think it is a good thing that we are still in a small apartment- it's less mess to clean up! I am writing this so I will have proof of Joel's escapades when he is older and tries to convince me that we was perfect. Close- but not quite!!! The lastest thing is that if Joel does not like his food he looks right at me-grabs a hand full of food- and dumps is over the side of his high chair! When I tell him no he thinks it is the funniest thing in the entire world and laughs and laughs. It is really hard not to chuckle when your trying to be the firm mom. What can you do?!

Joel also loves his new toy he got for his birthday! Although, thanks to a certain aunt and uncle (you know who you are!!!) Joel thinks he needs to be pushed around on it not do it himself! I also thought this was funny because he is sitting on a car with a car behind him holding Cars the movie. I sense a theme running through our house!!! Joel also thinks he needs to sit backwards. It's pretty funny (minus the fact that when he sits down he sits on all the musical buttons! Darn me for buying a toy with no off button! You think I would have learned by now!!!

Happy Birthday Joel

Saturday was Joel's very first birthday! I can't believe he is already one year old - it seems like only yesterday he was laying in my arms as a newborn! We had a big party with grandma's and grandpa's and aunts and uncles and cousins. He really liked his birthday cake -- for those of you that can't tell the oreo's and chocolate chips are supposed to make puppy paw prints. Joel's favorite thing on this earth (besides his mom - of course) is my mom and dad's HUGE golden retriever- he loves it! We ask where the puppy is and he says puh puh and goes to the window where you can see Dewey (the dog)! Joel got a lot of new toys that I am sure he will enjoy and I will enjoy cleaning up!

This weekend we also went up to the cabin to get mom and dad's christmas tree. After searching through the woods -- we found it - the perfect tree. We cut it down and then put it on the 4 wheeler to get it home! It took both Mike and Allen to drive it because you couldn't reach over the tree to drive with two hands. It was pretty funny to watch!
Happy Thanksgiving to all! We had Thanksgiving with my family this year and enjoyed seeing family and eating really good food. Joel was a very big fan of Thanksgiving. He likes food - so what a day for him! This was his first thanksgiving -- although it was supposed to be his second. Joel just had other plans! Here is Joel asking why he is in his high chair and does not have food in front of him!

Our New Hair Cuts

Joel and I got our hair done together this last week. Isn't he cute!!!! We did it short on the top and spikey on the top -- just like his dad! I put some auburn color in mine and a trim- and I like it! Joel was soo cute (I forgot to bring the camera -- darn!) sitting in the chair. After watching however, I don't think I could have done it without messing up because you can only keep a little boy still for about 1 nano second! We decided to take a picture before church when we were both lookin' good! hahaha!

I put this picture in just cause it's cute and because this is my new favorite outfit of Joels! I love Ross Dress for Less- I get in way too much trouble when I go in that store! Osh Kosh has three designs of these sweaters and I now own all three. They were just tooo cute to pass up! Joel also took his very first steps on his own yesterday! YEAH for Joel- it's finally happening! Maybe!

Puh-Puh

Puh-Puh is Joel's word for puppies and he has been able to say that a lot! Grandma and grandpa's doggies had 7 puppies last week and they are so cute! Joel got to hold his first one this last weekend! We got a picture and then rescued the puppy from Joel! He learned to "be soft" with dogs this summer we lived with four of them and its been a good thing! When he goes to pet a dog he puts one finger out and then turns his head and scunches his head waiting for a big lick! It's very cute!!!

Bath Time Fun!

I loved this smile of Joel in the bath. Since I couldn't find any thing else to write about -- I thought I would share this picture. I also found out something very important with this picture-- It's the best place in the house to take pictures! I have one planned for Joel and just might set up a "mini-studio" in my bathroom once I get all my props figured out!!! Look for pictures to come! Oh, and one more thing- Joel's first word is officially "stinky"! It is really funny to hear him say it. The other day I called him a stinkpot and he replied with stinky! It was pretty funny!

Our Halloween Weekend!

Happy Halloween everyone! Our weekend was a lot of fun. It's so fun to dress up Joel in his Halloween costume and take pictures. He didn't understand what all the candy was for or why he had to hold his trick or treat bag, but he did get some yummy things from his grandma and grandpa's and aunt and uncles!
Here is Joel raiding grandma's candy stash! Mike went motorcyle riding and decided that's what he was going to be for Halloween, so I put on my normal Hermine Granger standby and borrowed Allen's magic wand and ta-da there's are Halloween costumes! Mike put his helmet on Joel -- it didn't really fit and it was to heavy for Joel. He couldn't even hold his head up!!! It was pretty funny to watch him fall over with this huge helmet on!

We also canned applesauce this weekend- yum, yum! And yes, it does take 4 people to run the applesauce strainer!
Well, living with in the Wilding household is never dull - even while doing applesauce! Someone thought that turning the handle was taking way to long -- so we improvised! Out came the drill! We replaced the handle for a power drill - it went much faster! Surprisingly it actually worked!
We also went up to the mountains and rode horses and went motorcycling and four-wheeling. This was Joel's first ride with Uncle Matt on his horse Apollo. Joel loved it- he just smiled away as they trotted away!

Mike went motorcyling and decided he wanted to ride Apollo too- so he went in his motorcycle stuff! It made for a pretty funny picture!
I faced my fear of horses and decided to go for a ride too! I took the horse that was stubborn and didn't want to move! Just my kind of ride!!! I actually had a lot of fun- and suprisingly wasn't the least bit scared. Maybe all the times I was forced to go before did some good!
It was a busy weekend! But we had fun and Happy Halloween!

The Pumpkin Patch

Joel and his cousin went to the pumkin patch this week and got some pictures taken in their halloween costumes. My mom told me this outfit was child abuse with how much effort it is to put on-- I just think it's adorable! Enjoy the pictures.

Fall Leaves

We went and borrowed the neighbors leaves today for a quick photo shoot with Joel. My new photoshop came (yipee) and so I needed pictures to play with! I like the way they turned out. Joel didn't quite know what to do with all the crunchy leaves, but after a while he had some fun with them!
What is this mom?!
I like Joel's eyes in this one!
Look at all the leaves -- I think the pile was taller than me!Joel is daddy's little boy -- here is horsey back rides!
I bought my niece some fairy wings at the dollar store- we had to try them on Joel just to make sure they worked! I got in trouble by Mike for putting them on Joel!
This is me playing with the computer! This is a picture I had of my niece. Since I really would have gotten in trouble for putting fairy wings on Joel -- I decided I better use this picture! It was really fun to do!

A Few Recent Pictures

What would a boy do without his dad? Well, he wouldn't be turned upside down and tickled to death! Oh, okay he probably would! HaHaHa. Joel loves to be upside down and especially loves to play with his dad!
Do you see any resemblance???? Mike and Joel with Grandpa Bailey.
My mom, Joel, my sister-in-law, niece and I took a girls (and Joel) weekend out. While we were touring temple square I took this picture and liked it-- so I thought I would share!
We came home from Salt Lake to a wonderful winterland of snow. YES! I love the snow! The only problem is my warm clothes are in a box and mom and dad's house! BRRRR
This is my bubba being cute! We need to do laundrey so I put Joel's 18 month PJ's on and it's a good thing, because he is going to grow out of them soon! They grow up way tooo fast! (We are attempting to get rid of the pacifier and have it down to just at bedtime now, unless I cave in, oops!)

More Pictures from the Life of Joel

I tried to turn the first picture of Joel, but it wouldn't download right, so turn your head and enjoy a very funny picture. We are letting Joel eat big people food and tried some ravioli (yum,yum). Joel thought it was pretty good in his mouth, in his hair, in fact he thought it was good all over!

During this ravioli escapade we were at Aunt Jamie and Uncle Jeff's house and all they have is little girl things. Of course, Joel needed a bath, but how dare DAD put him in a princess towel. I am a boy, geesh!

Mom and Dad, how could you think I would do anything naughty. Look at this face, nothing but pure angel!

We went to the park to play and they have a climbing wall. Joel loves to climb on anything and did all right! He climbed clear up to the top to get his mom!

Jason's Senior Pictures

I get to take Jason's senior pictures this year. So, we went out in the middle of a lightning storm to see what we could do. These are a few of them. I thought they turned out okay and we had fun doing it!
This is our favorite!

Jason with his wakeboard

A cool picture of the temple (for me!)
If the black is wierd on your monitor -- I'm fixing it!
I tried to add sparkles to the eyes!
A cool new spot for pictures!

Jason is really not sitting on the rock - it was soaking wet!
Pretty Brown Eyes!
So, those are some of what we did! We'll see what we can come up with next! And just wait till I get my new camera!!!!
